Battle of the Blondes

This month on TCM, rather than picking one actor to feature as their Star of the Month, they're doing a "Battle of the Blondes" spectacular, pitting two blond actresses from the classic movie era against each other every Monday and Wednesday night throughout November. The logistics of the Battle of the Blondes concept is a little wonky, considering almost every actress from the thirties was blond at one point or another, but overall the idea is pretty cool, and different from the usual TCM scheduling fare. The first battle of the month commences tonight, between 50s' pinup blondes Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, and below is the schedule for the rest of the month.

 Monday, November 7 -- Battle of the Icy Blondes: Veronica Lake vs. Lana Turner

Monday, November 14 -- Battle of the European Blondes: Marlene Dietrich vs. Ursula Andress

Wednesday, November 16 -- Battle of the Wisecracking Blondes: Carole Lombard vs. Mae West

Monday, November 21 -- Battle of the Postmodern Blondes: Janet Leigh vs. Brigitte Bardot

Wednesday, November 23 -- Battle of the Chipper Blondes: Betty Grable vs. Doris Day

Monday, November 28 -- Battle of the British Blondes: Julie Christie vs. Diana Dors

Wednesday, November 30 -- Battle of the Hitchcock Blondes: Grace Kelly vs. Kim Novak
